Project Manager (Health Project – 01 Position)

Job Location: Juba – (With frequent travels to field locations – Lainya, Yei River & Morobo Counties) of Central Equatoria State

INTRODUCTION:

With its mission of ‘Transforming Communities in South Sudan and beyond through a Christ-centered holistic Approach’, ACROSS is inviting applications from academically qualified South Sudanese with extensive knowledge, experience and demonstratable skills in managing health Project (GAVI/REACH) for a position of Project Manager.

Main Job Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programmes, the Project Manager (Gavi/REACH Project) will perform administrative and program support functions including reviewing and approval of logistics, procurement& financial documentations for the health activities and supervision & training of ACROSS health staff and incentive workers/volunteers working under the Gavi/REACH project in Lainya, Yei and Morobo Counties. The incumbent will also provide technical support function in the ACROSS health sector.

JOB FUNCTIONS (Roles & Responsibilities):

  • Conduct and support quality immunization service delivery through various strategies of fixed, outreach, mobile, PIRI, etc. with focus on ZIP communities.

  • Support implementation of protocols and guidelines for demand creation and community engagement, and provide on job training and coaching to health facility staff.

  • support development of health facility microplanning in coordination with county EPI department and local actors at the community level.

  • Map cross-border and nomadic/ pastoral movement points within REACH locations to identify strategic areas to inform tailored vaccinations services among these high-risk populations.

  • Support quarterly data review meetings, and tailor strategies to improve data quality.

  • Plan and conduct regular meetings with community gatekeepers and persons of influence and advocate for zero dose children.

  • Conduct regular supportive supervision and support enhancement of capacity building, continues medical education, coaching and on job training.

  • Plan and implementation of community health programs.

  • Coordinate logistics support for last mile vaccine distribution, cold chain equipment installation, cold chain equipment repair.

  • Collect, compile and submit routine reports monthly, quarterly, midyear and annual reports.

  • Participate in relevant national, regional and subnational level immunization planning meetings to articulate REACH inputs.

  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation of health services.

  • Carry out service delivery assessment and quality assurance in the facility to ensure quality services are provided to clients.

  • Supervise and appraise staff reporting to this position.

  • Implements infection control protocols in the facility and ensures Health workers are working under safe environment.

  • Ensuring all the infrastructure, equipment and instruments is in working condition; and any faults are reported identified and repaired.

  • Respond programmatically to special healthcare interventions for emergencies and disease outbreaks as measles within the catchment’s areas

  • Maintain excellent relations and communications with ACROSS staff, partners and clients as well as the local authorities.

  • Undertake any other tasks assigned by ACROSS Leadership Team (ALT).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  1. Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or surgery from a recognized institution (a must).

  • Trainings in public health, child health or Healthcare management with focus in EPI is desirable.

b) Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years, work experience with NGO/UN agencies in the health sector.

  • EPI knowledge and experience is an added advantage.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to operate effectively within and outside ACROSS organizational boundaries; ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
