Donation to Juba Hospitals
On 19 May 2020, ACROSS, in partnership with UNHCR, facilitated the donation of items to Juba Teaching Hospital and El Sabbah Children’s Hospital. Juba Teaching Hospital received 56 handwashing stations, 150 mattresses with Mackintosh, 200 bed sheets, PPE, and assorted items (soap, sleeping mats, blankets, mosquito nets). El Sabbah Children’s Hospital received 100 mattresses with Mackintosh, 200 bed sheets, 26 rubbish bins, PPE and assorted items (soap, sleeping mats, blankets, mosquito nets). ACROSS also facilitated the removal of accumulated rubbish from the Children’s Hospital compound. In addition to these items, UNHCR donated two Ambulances and one hardtop pick-up Land Cruiser (each allocated to Yei, Kajokeji and Yambio).
ACROSS was represented by Executive Director, Elisama Wani Daniel, as well as the Programme Manager, Levi Mogga Yona and Medical Office, Dr Robert Napolean. The donation was received by the Minister of Health, Hon Elizabeth Achuei Yol on behalf of the Director General of Juba Teaching Hospital, Dr. Isaac Cleto and Director General of El Sabbah Children’s Hospital, Dr. Justin Bruno. Also present was the Ministry of Health Undersecretary, Dr. Makur Matur Koriom.
ACROSS and UNHCR have a long-standing partnership to implement refugee care and services in South Sudan through the Integrated Response Programme. ACROSS also operates the medical referral service and ambulance service for UNHCR.
