Innovation through Integration

The Integrated Community Based Development Project (ICBDP) in Rumbek East County impacts communities in many ways. As the name suggests, the project utilizes an integrated response to transition communities from relief to resilience by building community capacity to address their needs in areas such as: education, health, WASH, peace building, food security and livelihoods. The main objective of the project is to contribute to the improved well-being of the people of Rumbek East County through education and the creation of healthier, more peaceful, economically secure and empowered communities and government systems.

Rumbek East County has been negatively affected by long-term, consistent inter-communal conflict, political instability and chronic poverty. The area remains underdeveloped, and people have insufficiently utilized their local resources to support their development. The area is rich in cattle and agricultural resources which people are learning to use to propel themselves toward their envisioned future.

ICBDP is an ongoing project through partnership with Tearfund Australia (with the support of the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and TearFund Switzerland.
